September was a wonderful start to the school year at CFE! Our hallways are once again filled with smiling faces, busy classrooms, and the energy that comes with a new school year. Students have been settling into routines, building friendships, and getting to know their teachers and classmates.
Our district-wide focus, “Developing leaders one CF student at a time,” continues to shape the work we do with students each day. Throughout September, students were introduced to the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" and spent time thinking about what it means to be a leader. Every classroom also worked together to create a class Mission Statement—a shared vision for how students want to learn, work, and treat one another throughout the year.
Our Rise and Shine assemblies are also back for another year! At our first assembly, students explored what leadership looks like in the many different spaces they visit each day—from the classroom and cafeteria to the hallways, playground, auditorium, and even the restroom! Each class will have the opportunity to plan and lead a Rise and Shine assembly during the year, giving students authentic opportunities to practice leadership by serving as greeters, leading the Pledge of Allegiance, introducing the "7 Habits", sharing celebrations, and much more.
We are also continuing to embrace the powerful idea that “Everyone has genius.” This mindset reminds us that every student and adult brings unique strengths, talents, interests, and perspectives to our school community. Our goal is to recognize those strengths, create opportunities for them to shine, and remind our students that there is a place for everyone's talents at CFE. We are excited to see all of the ways our students and staff will contribute their own special “genius” throughout the year!
As we head into October, there is certainly no shortage of excitement! We are looking forward to Open House, PTO’s Trunk or Treat on October 28, and our Halloween Parade on October 30. Families will receive additional information about these events as they get closer, so please keep an eye on ParentSquare for details.
We are off to a great start, and we can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings!
