Mrs. Allison Birch

Mrs. Birch is an experienced educator who has devoted her career to shaping young minds. Her journey began in the Fulton County School system within the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia. In this diverse setting, Mrs. Birch taught students across multiple grade levels, from second to fifth grade.

Driven by a desire to return to her New York roots, Mrs. Birch transitioned to Windsor Middle School, where she passionately taught 6th grade Math and Science for an impressive decade. Her dedication to her craft led her to pursue further qualifications, and she successfully obtained her administrative certification.

In pursuit of new challenges and opportunities, Mrs. Birch joined Maine-Endwell High School, where she flourished for three years as an Associate Principal. Throughout her tenure, Mrs. Birch focused on creating a conducive learning environment and fostering academic growth among the students.

Mrs. Birch's educational journey is bolstered by her academic accomplishments. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Science degree in Elementary Literacy from the State University of New York College at Cortland. Determined to expand her knowledge, she went on to complete her Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership at Binghamton University. Mrs. Birch firmly believes that all students have the potential to achieve great things through hard work, dedication, and strong partnerships among students, staff, and families. She continues fostering meaningful relationships and guiding learners towards their full potential each and every day.

Attendance

Regular attendance at school is a positive habit that should be established early in a child's school career. If you transport your child to school, please have him/her here by 8:55 a.m. Students arriving after 8:55 a.m. are considered tardy. Dismissal starts at 3:05 p.m., and all students should be picked up by 3:35 p.m. unless they are participating in after-school activities.

Absences

It is the parent/guardian's responsibility to notify the office by 8:30 a.m. on the morning of each absence by contacting the Attendance Clerk, Mrs. Rosko, at: (607) 648-7580, option 2 or by email: RoskoL@cforks.org.

In the event that you do not contact the attendance office, upon returning to school after an absence or tardiness, children will need a signed note from the parent/guardian stating the reason for the absence/tardiness. When writing the reason, it is helpful to state the specific illness, such as "sore throat" or "upset stomach". When a parent wishes to have a child excused from class for a health reason, (doctor or dentist appointment) or for any other reason, a written request signed by the parent must be presented prior to the child leaving the building.

Legal Absences

The Board of Education recognizes the following reasons for student absences as valid:

  1. Personal illness
  2. Illness or death in the family
  3. Religious observance
  4. Quarantine
  5. Required court appearances
  6. Attendance at health clinics or other medical visits
  7. Approved college visits
  8. Military obligations
  9. Absences approved in advance by the principal
  10. Other reasons that my be approved by the Commissioner of Education

Any other absence is considered unexcused. This would include excuses signed by the parent/guardian for reasons such as: shopping, vacations, oversleeping, skipping class, hunting, babysitting, haircuts, scouting events and sporting events not sanctioned by the NYSPHSAA.
